Telemon Thoroughbreds’ Jungle Cat (IRE) is off the mark in Australia after Puss Boots saluted at start seven in a 950m maiden at Cairns on Friday.

Ridden by Jason Taylor for Roy Chillemi, Puss Boots shared the lead with the favourite Casual before dropping that son of Husson (ARG) shortly after straightening.

2yo daughter of Jungle Cat (IRE) found the line strongly in defeating Casual by one and a quarter length, with Top Echelon gelding Mishani Eagle a half-length back in third.

A hugely talented son of Iffraaj (GB), Jungle Cat (IRE) improved with age.

His best season came as a 6yo when winning the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint (1200m) and the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) and closed out his career when dead-heating with Pierata when third behind Santa Ana Lane and In Her Time in the VRC Sprint Classic (1200m).
