Pierata Acquired by Yulong

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 22

The relocation of Aquis sires continues with Pierro’s brilliant Group I winning sprinter Pierata heading to Victoria after being acquired by Yulong.

Pierata

With his first crop of two year-olds to race next season, Pierata has been extremely well received at the sales this year with his progeny heading into many of the best stables in the country.

Pierata had 26 yearlings average $259,038 at Magic Millions Book 1 with some 75 yearlings selling at all sales at an average just over $150,000.

Pierata was a tough and consistent campaigner, competing at the highest level from age two to five and he comes with a high class speed pedigree being by a Golden Slipper winner in Pierro from the daughter of another Golden Slipper winner in Flying Spur and he traces to fourth dam Century Miss, yet another Golden Slipper winner.

“Pierata finished outside the top five just twice in his career,” Yulong’s chief operation offcer Sam Fairgray said.

“Few stallions these days have such complete racing campaigns as Pierata, and throughout his career he showed his incredible soundness, brilliance and raw talent - all qualities that put him on track for success as a stallion.

“To acquire him at this point in his career, just months away from his first runners, is incredibly exciting for both Yulong and the Victorian industry. We’ve seen how well received his first yearlings were at the sales this year.”

A fee for Pierata is yet to be announced.
