In Secret Wins G2 Light Fingers in a Thriller

Tara Madgwick - Saturday February 11

Godolphin enjoyed a great day at the office on Saturday and one of the highlights of their day was the winning return of outstanding I Am Invincible filly In Secret, who overcame adversity to win the Group II ATC Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.

A $900,000 Magic Millions purchase for Godolphin, the James Cummings trained In Secret was last seen winning the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes in the spring.

She was tardy from the gates for Nash Rawiller, but he allowed her to surge forward under her own steam and she soon put herself into the race.

In Secret set sail after the leader Cinderella Days and got the better of her before holding off a late challenge from Sunshine in Paris to win by a short head taking her overall record to five wins and two seconds from seven starts with earnings in excess of $1.8million.

It was the first race ride on In Secret for Nash Rawiller.

"When you're on a filly like her there's no panic and it's just making sure you don't make a blue. Although they sort of kicked away from us a bit turning in, I didn't want to be the first one out chasing them either,” he said.

"She'd made a bit of ground along the fence there and I didn't want to be the first one under pressure. So I just bided my time for another 50-100m and I knew that she would make me look good late."

James Cumming is looking forward to a successful autumn with his star filly.

"She's a very, very good filly, we're unbelievably lucky to have her. Hopefully she keeps going ahead but it's a great base for her to keep going forward,” he said.

“The Group I Surround is here in two weeks and it will be great to see her flourish."

In Secret was bred in partnership by Longwood Thoroughbred Farm and Segenhoe, who consigned her for sale, and is the second winner from former brilliant Group III winning filly Eloping, who won over $1.2million in prizemoney.

Longwood Thoroughbred Farm sold the current two year-old from Eloping, a filly by Trapeze Artist, for $200,000 at Inglis Premier last year to Mick Price Racing and Breeding.

Eloping has a yearling filly to follow by Snitzel that will be offered by Longwood at Inglis Premier as Lot 397.

She has produced a full sister to In Secret last spring and is back in foal to the champion sire again.

In Secret highlights one of the most successful nicks for her champion sire I Am Invincible.

I Am Invincible over daughters of Choisir has a 100% success rate with 12 winners from 12 runners and In Secret is the first Group I winner and third stakes-winner joining Group I placed Group III winner Eckstein and stakes-winner I Am Eloquent.

In Secret brought up a stakes double at Randwick for I Am Invincible, who also sired Quantico to win the Group III ATC Southern Cross Stakes, while his two year-old fillies Blanc de Blanc and Kundalini filled the minor placings in the $2million Inglis Millennium.
