Corumbene Stud have a great reputation for success having produced Golden Slipper winners Sebring and Overreach over the years along with a host of outstanding performers.

Corumbene Stud and their $1.8million colt!

“It was a lot of money but he’s a beautiful colt. There was two or three colts at this sale that really stood out to us and he was definitely one and we were super happy to be bringing him home,” said Shane Wright of Kia Ora Stud.

“Coming from Corumbene we know that they can breed a very good horse and this horse has the profile to be just that.

“We haven’t decided on a trainer yet but we’ve got a couple of yearlings left over that we haven’t got trainers for. We’ll work all of that out.”

The star colt is the fifth living foal from Group II winning General Nediym mare Ichihara, who has now had three yearling colts sold at auction with this fellow making $1.8million, Empire of Japan (Snitzel) making $680,000 at this sale last year and Mount Fuji (Snitzel) topping Inglis Easter in 2019 when selling for $2.8million.

Ichihara slipped last season and is now in foal to Exceed and Excel.
