Best of the Best - Winx Crowned Australian HOTY

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 9
Winx was predictably named Australian Horse Of The Year for a second time at a function in Brisbane on Sunday night.

The Chris Waller-trained daughter of Street Cry (IRE) won all eight of her starts in the 2016-17 season with six of them at Group I level, notably a second Cox Plate.

Saturday's Turnbull Stakes victory at Flemington was the 21st consecutive win for the six year-old mare, who was also named champion Middle Distance horse.

Waller won the Bart Cummings award for training and Hugh Bowman the Champion Group I jockey award.
