Inglis Graduates Star at Horse of the Year Awards

Five Inglis Graduates were named champions of the 2016-2017 Australian racing season at last night's Australian Racehorse of the Year awards in Brisbane.

She Will Reign The brilliant season of syndicators Darby Racing was recognised as horses they race won two awards, She Will Reign being named Champion 2YO and Yankee Rose winning the Champion 3YO Filly award.

The Inglis Classic sale graduate She Will Reign enjoyed an outstanding 2YO season highlighted by winning the Golden Slipper, as well as the Inglis Nursery and the Silver Slipper Stakes.

Following his third consecutive TJ Smith Stakes victory, Chautauqua was again named Champion Sprinter. Offered by Berkeley Park Stud at the 2012 Australian Easter Yearling Sale, he has now won more than $8million for connections.

Both Chautauqua and She Will Reign head towards The Everest on Saturday, racing alongside fellow Inglis graduates Fell Swoop, Deploy and Redzel.

Flying ArtieFlying Artie was awarded champion 3YO colt or gelding, most notably for his performance in the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington as well as the Blue Sapphire Stakes. Retired from the track, the Inglis Easter graduate is currently standing his first season at Newgate farm.

The Champion stayer award was given to Inglis Premier graduate Jameka. The Gilgai farm bred mare enjoyed great success in both the spring and autumn, winning the Caulfield Cup as well as the BMW.

Inglis' national bloodstock director Jonathan D'Arcy was thrilled for the connections of these horses to be recognised.

"On behalf of Inglis I congratulate all breeders, vendors, buyers and owners of this year's Australian Champion horses," D'Arcy said.

"These horses are great examples of what all racing enthusiasts strive for in our sport."

Champion 2YO – She Will Reign (Manhattan Rain x Courgette)

Champion 3YO Filly – Yankee Rose (All American x Condesaar)

Champion 3YO Colt or Gelding – Flying Artie (Artie Schiller x Flying Ruby)

Champion Sprinter – Chautauqua (Encosta De Lago x Lovely Jubly)

Champion Stayer – Jameka (Myboycharlie x Mine Game)
