Winx Part of a Stunning Treble

Media Release - Monday October 9

The six and a half length Group I VRC Turnbull Stakes win of the rampaging Winx was part of a group-winning treble at Flemington on Saturday for graduates of Coolmore Australia.

Group II Gilgai Stakes winner Keen Array, raised at Coolmore for his breeder, the late Oliver Wong, was joined as part of the winning sequence by Group II Edward Manifold Stakes winner Bring Me Roses (High Chaparral).

Winx - Grant CourtneyThe Tony McEvoy trained filly, foaled, raised and broken-in at Coolmore for her owner/breeders Denis and Claire O'Brien, is the 227th stakes winning graduate of Coolmore Australia since i1996.

"The success of graduates of the farm is something that we are understandably very proud of and the run of success over the last number of years has been nothing short of staggering, " said Coolmore Australia Stud Manager Jim Carey.

"There were 24 stakes winning graduates of the farm in 2015, 26 in 2016 and 19 so far this year. There are 11 individual Gr.1 winners amongst those graduates and all told they have won an amazing 120 stakes races.

"It is a fantastic endorsement of the team on the farm, the systems in place and the farm itself – it's just an amazing place to breed elite racehorses ".

As has been widely acclaimed, Winx won her 21st straight race on Saturday and looks likely to be near-impossible to beat in attempting to win her third straight Group I Cox Plate later this month. She is an incredible ambassador for her breeders John and Deb Camilleri of Fairway Thoroughbreds.

The same can be said of the now sadly deceased mare Freckled Face, dam of Bring Me Roses, who is the 9th winner from as many runners bred from the great producer.

Spring success for Coolmore graduates includes…
