The three-year-old Fastnet Rock filly Cabaca wiped $36,000 off her $300,000 purchase price when breaking her maiden over 1580m at a rain-sodden Canterbury on Wednesday.
Ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, Cabaca led home a 1-2-3 for Chris Waller in the 5-horse field.
Placed once in her previous four starts, Cabaca defeated the Redoute’s Choice colt Ignacio by one and a quarter lengths with the Sebring gelding Ring Ahoy a half-neck back in third after being backed into an odds-on favourite.
Magic Bloodstock & Associates bought Cabaca for $300,000 from the Bhima Stud draft at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
She is the third foal of the stakes-placed Shamardal mare Berimbau.
Cabaca had a big pedigree update on the eve of the sale when her half-sister Imperatriz won the Group II ARC Eclipse Stakes.
The daughter of I Am Invisible then added the Group 1 NZ Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes and Group 1 Levin Classic.
Raffles Racing purchased Berimbau for $180,000 from the Godolphin draft at the 2016 National Broodmare Sale.
Berimbau had her first live foal since Cabaca when she foaled a Capitalist filly on August 20.
