Until Wednesday, the lone 2yo winner for Brazen Beau this season was Bello Beau, a dual Listed stakes-winner in Tasmania.
The Darley stallion now has three. Shortly after Star Thoroughbreds’ Bulsara broke his maiden at Ipswich, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Resonator led them a merry dance in the Hellbent @ Yarraman Park Maiden (1200m) at Canterbury.
Ridden by Tim Clark, the Newgate Farm and China Horse Club colour-bearer could not have been any more impressive when leading at every call to defeat Coolmore’s $900,000 So You Think colt Political Debate by two and three-quarter lengths with the $350,000 Not A Single Doubt colt Shirvo a further length back in third.

“That was a fantastic effort. He is a little hard to gauge at home because he is so laidback,” Bott said.
“He is workmanlike in what he does, but I was encouraged by his trials. I thought he showed sharpness there and bought that here.
“There is a lot of upside to this horse.
“We had to rush him to get to the Breeder’s Plate, but Henry (Field) has been great in giving us the time to get him here today.
“He is going to be a lovely horse for the Winter Carnival.
“I think he can get a bit further, and we will see him in a couple of stakes races in Queensland.
China Horse Club/Newgate Bloodstock shelled out $360,000 for the son of Brazen Beau from the KBL Thoroughbreds draft at the 2021 Magic Million Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
He is the first runner for the winning Fastnet Rock mare Dejavu Rock a half-sister to stakes-placed winners Top Slice and Bull Market.
Not covered in 2020 or 2021, Dejavu Rock visited Capitalist last spring after missing to an earlier cover by Brazen Beau.
