Zoustar Mare Wins G3 Bow Mistress for Yulong

Tara Madgwick - Friday February 11

Tony and Calvin McEvoy thought outside the square to send talented Zoustar mare Zoushine to Tasmania for her first run back from a spell in the $150,000 Group III Bow Mistress Stakes (1200m) and were well rewarded when she scored a half length win.

Stakes-placed as a two year-old, Zoushine took a while to break her maiden, but has made steady progress since then and looks set for her best ever campaign.

She found the line well for Barend Vorster to post that all important Black Type win taking her overall record to four wins and five placings from 15 starts with prizemoney topping $316,000.

Zoushine was a $380,000 Inglis Premier purchase from Mill Park.

A $380,000 Inglis Premier purchase for McEvoy Mitchell Racing from the Mill Park, Zoushine runs for a syndicate headed by Yulong in whose colours she runs and includes her breeders Brenton and Liz Parker.

Ravenous Lass has not had a foal for the last three seasons, but was covered by Flying Artie in 2021.

Zoushine is the 26th stakes-winner for Widden Stud's Zoustar and has a 3 x 3 double cross of Redoute’s Choice. She is the third stakes-winner for Zoustar bred this way joining Haut Brion Her and Solar Star.
