Gerry Harvey has bred and raced a lot of good mares over the years and one of the best would be Lotteria, who gave us a ‘One to Watch’ on the last day of 2021.
From the first crop of legendary sire Redoute’s Choice, the Gai Waterhouse trained Lotteria won the Group I ATC Flight Stakes and VRC Myer Classic, but it was her brave second to Makybe Diva in the 2005 Cox Plate was the run that stamped her as something special.
At stud, Lotteria has never produced a horse with a fraction of her ability, but in three year-old Redwood (GB) filly Pink Ivory she might be about to change it up a gear.
Trained by John Sargent, Pink Ivory was having her second race start in the 1600m maiden at Gosford and flew home from back in the field to beat hot favourite Flying Witness by a head running away.

Pink Ivory is the sixth winner from six to race for 20 year-old Lotteria, who is now back in Australia after a stint at Westbury Stud in New Zealand and was covered by So You Think in September after missing the previous two seasons.
Lotteria is also the grand-dam of Group III winner Marroni and Group III placed Statuesquely.
