$1Million Golden Gift Sale Mail

Tara Madgwick - Thursday November 4

It’s been an interesting week for juveniles with stakes races for colts and fillies at Flemington won by Brereton (Zoustar) and See You in Heaven (Divine Prophet) with the focus back at Rosehill on Saturday for the $1million ATC Golden Gift (1100m).

There’s no Black Type with this one, but there is a big pot of cash that will ensure the winner a slot in next year’s $5million Golden Slipper.

Breeders Plate winner Sejardan has accepted for the $1million Golden Gift - image Steve Hart.

Gary Portelli has his Group III ATC Breeder’s Plate winner Sejardan engaged, while Inglis Easter $2.1million sale-topper Nobel is also in the mix after making a pleasing debut on Cox Plate day with a third in the $250,000 Inglis Banner.

Unraced contenders hold plenty of interest with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott relying on Redoute’s Choice colt Mount Brilliant.

Mount Brilliant was a $350,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Arrowfield draft for Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds and has a top class European female family.

Mount Brilliant was a $350,000 Magic Millions purchase.

He is from Al Jasrah (IRE), a half-sister by Shirocco to four time Group I winner Hartnell (GB) from the family of Champion 3YO Suave Dancer, so has the depth of pedigree to suggest unlimited future potential.

Nobel is not the only runner for Annabel Neasham, who will also saddle Fastnet Rock filly Birdonawing, who was scratched from Flemington in preference for this race.

Birdonawing was a $475,000 Inglis Easter purchase.

A $475,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft for her trainer, Birdonawing was bred by morning Rise Stud and is the second foal from Kononkop (Arg), a dual Group I winner and Champion 2YO Filly of Argentina in 2017.
