Foxwedge's Foxy Frida Claims Valuable Inglis Bracelet

Consistent Foxwedge mare Foxy Frida came from last to claim the $250,000 Inglis Bracelet (1600m) at Flemington on Oaks Day.

Ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, the Andrew Noblet-trained 4yo came widest on the turn to run down the brave frontrunner Ruby Tuesday (Deep Field) by three-quarters of a length with Intellective (Toronado) a further one and a half lengths back in third.

Coming off a last start second in the Group II Ladies' Day Vase (1600m), Foxy Frida advances her record to four wins and five seconds from 11 starts with earnings of $391,670.

“She’s a beauty. She doesn’t know how not to try and has a very consistent record. She was good again today,” Noblet said.

“She got a bit further back than we wanted to from the gate at Caulfield the other day. Back to a track she goes well at and a small field, she got a lovely run into the race and it was a great result.

“As her form suggests she does like this track and it suits her because she does take a while to wind up. She looked like she was going to get there a fair way out today.

“It was a lovely race for her and we’ll just (keep) taking small steps along the way.

“We’ll take her home and see how she is. She only had a light break between now and the winter so we don’t want to bottom her right out. If she bounces through it there might be something at Caulfield for her.”

Bred by Mill Park and Kellie McCarthy, Foxy Frida failed to make her $50,000 reserve at the 2019 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

A half-sister to the multiple stakes-placed Ritratto (Fiorente), she is one of  three winners from four to race out of the 4-time winner Family Portrait (Excellent Art), the only non-winner Family Addition (Astern) has placed in two of three starts, most recently when second at Morphettville on Melbourne Cup Day.

Family Portrait has a yearling filly by Divine Prophet and foaled a Hellbent filly on October 5.

Foxwedge stands at Woodside Park Stud for a fee of $11,000 (inc gst).
