Deep Field’s Isotope Wins Darby Munro

Tara Madgwick - Saturday March 27

Tony Gollan’s outstanding Deep Field filly Isotope had her first race start outside of Queensland in the Listed ATC Darby Munro Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on Slipper Day and lived up to expectation when surging late to beat Group I winner Odeum.

A hot favourite in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas when she lost her rider, Isotope was given a break after that debacle, but was fit and ready to fire for her Sydney debut.

With regular rider Ryan Maloney on board, Isotope settled back and charged to the line to win by a long head.

“She’s a filly we were really excited to bring away,” said Tony Gollan.

“I was a bit nervous in the run, but she’s done a tradesman like job in a quality field and had to chase down a genuine Group I winner.”

A $170,000 Magic Millions purchase for Gollan Rcg/J Foote Bstock/Black Soil Bstock from the draft of Daandine Stud, Isotope has five wins and two seconds from nine starts with prizemoney just shy of $400,000.

She’s already a three time Listed stakes-winner, but will be given her chance at a better grade of race with the Group II Arrowfield Stud Sprint (1200m) for three year-olds at The Championships her next assignment.

Isotope returns a winner at her first run in Sydney.

Bred by Daandine Stud, she is the first winner for Great Dansaar a half-sister by Choisir to Group I winner Yankee Rose and Group III winner Miravalle from the family of New Zealand Derby winner Redoute’s Dancer.

Daandine sold the current two year-old from Great Dansaar, a filly by Winning Rupert, at Magic Millions last year for $90,000 to Darby Racing / De Burgh Equine and she has been named Rupertaar.

Daandine Stud sold the yearling half-brother by Sebring to Isotope at Magic Millions for $450,000 to the same connections as Isotope, Black Soil Bloodstock/John Foote Bloodstock/Gollan Racing.

Great Dansaar had a filly foal last year by Spirit of Boom and was one of 200 mares covered by Deep Field at Newgate Farm last year at an increased fee of $55,000.
The dam of Isotope is back in foal to her sire Deep Field.
