Pride Of Dubai Gelding Makes Winning Debut

Mark Smith - Sunday February 7

A 1-2 for a pair of debutants by Pride Of Dubai at Ballarat on Sunday, and to the delight of punters they arrived in the right order.

In the opener over 1200m, Craig Williams timed his finish to perfection on heavily backed favourite Saif.

Trained by Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes, Saif defeated Lindsay Parks Sandy Prince in the final bound.

The Street Boss (USA) colt Son Of Mercury was three-quarters of a length back in third.

Saif was a $290,000 purchase by Hawkes Racing out of the Coolmore draft at the 2020 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

A half-brother to the stakes-placed Serious Liaison out of the stakes-placed Husson (ARG) mare Little Miss Smiley, Saif has a full-brother in the Coolmore draft heading to this year's Easter Yearling Sale.
