Dundeel’s Atyaab Returns to Form

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 30

Run Fox Run was not the only Australian winner on the program at Kenilworth on Saturday with Dundeel five year-old Atyaab taking out the Group II West Cape Stayers Stakes (2800m).

Previously trained by Mike de Kock and now with Zietsman Oosthuizen, Atyaab scored a two and a quarter length win over the favourite Silver Host returning to the form that saw him win the Group I Cape Derby as a three year-old.

A $260,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell from the Arrowfield Stud draft, Atyaab has the overall record of five wins and five placings from 19 starts.

Atyaab was a $260,000 Inglis Easter yearling.

Bred by Arrowfield and partners, Atyaab is a half-brother to stakes-winner Vesper and is the best of five winners from Group II winner Sylvaner, who has not produced a foal since 2018.
