Winning Debut for Sebring Blueblood

A homebred for Sir Owen Glen’s Go Bloodstock Australia, blue-blooded Sebring three year-old Ahso made a winning debut at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, the half-brother to slick stakes-winner Sangria was well educated following recent trials and made light of the heavy track to lead all the way and win the 1200m maiden by more than a length as favourite.

Stable representative Neil Paine was well pleased with the result and indicated Ahso would appreciate longer trips as his career unfolds.

Raised at Newgate Farm, Ahso is the third winner from four foals to race from stakes-placed Encosta de Lago mare Quench the Thirst, a full sister to Group III winner Precious Lorraine and stakes-winner Lucky Raquie.

A grand-daughter of blue hen Shantha’s Choice, Quench the Thirst has an unrivalled pedigree featuring Group I stars Redoute’s Choice, Manhattan Rain, Platinum Scissors and Shoals.

She was bought by Newgate Farm for $1.5million from the Magic Millions Teeley Assets Dispersal in 2014 and has produced some very profitable yearlings for them, but is now in the ownership of Go Bloodstock.

Her Merchant Navy yearling filly has been withdrawn from Magic Millions and she produced a colt by Russian Revolution last spring.

Sebring has some outstanding yearlings to be offered at Magic Millions.

Ahso’s sire Sebring has a big draft of 36 for Magic Millions including Lot 357, the half-brother to Magic Millions 3YO Guineas contender Isotope and Lot 549, the half-sister to Magic Millions 2YO contender Queen of Wizardry.
