A three year-old filly prepared by Tony and Calvin McEvoy, Zoushine was stakes-placed twice last season at two and gave the promise of better things to come when scoring easily at Caulfield on Saturday.

A last start winner at Morphettville, she was favourite for the 1100m Benchmark 70 fillies event and coasted home to win by more than two lengths.

“She’s a really nice filly and we’ve placed her in the deep end her whole career so far,” said co-trainer Calvin McEvoy.

“Her last start win was good and there’s some good form that came out of that race so we had some confidence coming into today. Will Price rode her beautifully, too.

“She was impressive and she’s now a Caulfield winner and stakes placed. We’re not sure whether we’ll press on further this prep but we’ll keep chasing black type.”

A $380,000 Inglis Premier purchase for McEvoy Mitchell from the Mill Park draft, Zoushine runs for a syndicate headed by Yulong, whose colours she carries, and has two wins and four placings from eight starts with prizemoney topping $140,000.

Zoushine is the first winner from former smart metro winning sprinter Ravenous Lass, a half-sister to by Stratum to Group II winner San Nicasio.

Zoustar doubled up when the Les Bridge trained four year-old gelding All Time Legend resumed from a spell to cruise clear as a very easy winner in the Benchmark 78 event over 1200m.

With four wins from six starts and over $160,000 in prizemoney, four year-old All Time Legend looks to be a potential new stakes-winner in the making for Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar, who has 60 entries for Magic Millions 2021.
