Celebrity Queen Makes it 177 for Redoute's Choice

With his penultimate crop of 40 live foals on the track this season and 23 to follow from his last hurrah, Redoute’s Choice is most likely going to fall just short of an incredible 200 stakes-winners from his long and storied career.

The champion son of Danehill added two stakes-winners to his tally on Saturday. After the progressive 3yo The Elanora became his 176th stakes-winner when capturing the Group III Spring Stakes (1600m) at Newcastle, the 4yo mare Celebrity Queen opened her stakes account in the Group III Colonel Reeves Stakes (1100m) at Ascot.

Yet another homebred for Bob and Sandra Peters, Celebrity Queen was all out to hold the challenge of the fast-finishing Stageman (Written Tycoon), who also carries the cerise and white silks, with Indian Pacific (Zoustar) a half-length back in third.

With her maiden stakes success at her second attempt at black-type, Celebrity Queen advances her record to six wins and two seconds from 10 starts with earnings of $389,780.

That is a highly commendable strike rate and few have come without a battle.

In that respect she takes after her stakes-winning dam Celebrity Miss. The daughter of More Than Ready (USA) won eight and placed in four of her 20 starts while banking almost $300,000.

Granddam Miss Margaret could boast an even more imposing record. The daughter of Marscay win eight and placed in four of her 20 starts, highlighted by a pair of wins at the highest level VRC Chrysler (Cantala) Stakes and South Australian Oaks.

Celebrity Miss ticks all the boxes to make an impact at stud. Besides being a talented racemare, she is a sister to the stakes-placed Rafferty and a half-sister to the Group II WATC Karrakatta Plate winner confront (Bluebird).

Add to that she visited Redoute’s Choice in her first three seasons.

Celebrity Queen is her second foal and the only one to make the track to date.

Her first foal Celebrity Belle was purchased by Yu Long Investments for $110,000 out of the Holbrook Stud draft at the 2019 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. She foaled a filly by Grunt on August 19.

Celebrity Miss has been a regular partner of Xtravagant in the last few years. She has a yearling colt and filly foal by Newhaven Park Studs dual Group 1 winning son of Pentire (GB).
