There was a scarcity of Australian-bred mares at the Goffs Orby Sale with one notable exception being Nechita who had a Galileo filly, but in these tough times not even Galileo was spared.
A daughter of Fastnet Rock, Nechita won three of her four starts for Nathan Tinkler’s Patinack Farm highlighted by her defeat of Jolie Bay and Shamexpress in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and Meidung and Dear Demi in the Group III Silver Shadow Stakes.
Purchased by Coolmore Stud for $1.55 million at the 2013 Magic Millions Patinack Farm Reduction Sale, Nechita was sent to Ireland where she has been a regular partner of Galileo.
She has had one winner from two to race and that was the Tipperary maiden winner Harpo Marx who is yet to open his account in four starts for Bjorn Baker in Australia.
Donnacha O'Brien has a 2yo Gaileo x Nechita filly named On Tiptoes in training.
The Nechita filly at the Orby sale was purchased by Brian Grassick Bloodstock for £140,000.
Galileo had nine go through the ring with the seven to sell bringing £185,000, £170,000, £140,000, £40,000, £38,000, £30,000 and £26,000 for the only Galileo colt.
