Invincible Fillies Dominate G2 Silver Shadow

Tara Madgwick - Saturday August 22

For the past two years the Group II ATC Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Randwick has been won by I Am Invincible fillies with this Saturday’s rendition won by another daughter of Yarraman Park’s champion sire in Dame Giselle, who follows in the footsteps of Fiesta and Libertini.

Winner of the Group II ATC Reisling Stakes at two, the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Dame Giselle was having her first run this season and was tuned up with two recent trials.

With arch rival See You Soon scratched at the gates, Dame Giselle was able to lead all the way for Tommy Berry and was strong to the line winning by a long head over fast closing Thermosphere (Exosphere).

“She had a really nice run in front and was too good, class rose to the top,” said Paul Snowden, indicating she would now progress through the Darley Princess Series.

Purchased by Go Bloodstock for $500,000 out of the Sledmere Stud draft at Inglis Easter, Dame Giselle was bred by China Horse Club and races for Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock and China Horse Club, who retained a share in the talented filly.

She has the impressive record of three wins and two placings from seven starts with prizemoney in excess of $973,000.

Dame Giselle is a three-quarter sister to Listed MRC Merson Cooper Stakes winner Steal My Kisses out of the Group II VRC AV Kewney Stakes and Group II MRC Angus Armanasco Stakes winner Ballet Society, who was third in the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas.

Ballet Society has a yearling colt by Pride of Dubai, but will have no foal this year after missing last spring.

I Am Invincible

Dame Giselle is the first stakes-winner of the new season for I Am Invincible, who stands at Yarraman Park at a fee of $209,000.
