Newgate Farm’s outstanding young sire Deep Field made some history on Sunday siring his 81st Australian winner this season to surpass the record of his sire Northern Meteor, who sired 80 winners as a second crop sire in 2013/2014.
The history maker came at Hawkesbury with the Peter and Paul Snowden trained three year-old filly Hit the High Note breaking her maiden over 1800m by a length after placing at her two previous starts.
A $220,000 Magic Millions purchase for Paul Moroney Bstock/Go Bloodstock Australia from the Newgate Farm draft, she was a successful pinhook having been bought as a weanling for $125,000 at Magic Millions from the Aquis Farm draft.
Bred by Aquis, Hit the High Note is the first winner for imported stakes-winner Jokes n Jazz (USA), who has been catalogued for the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale as Lot 256 and is not in foal.
Her current weanling colt by The Mission is also in the sale as Lot 833.
It’s been a ground breaking season for Deep Field with his tally of winners including a pair of Group II winners in Xilong and Cosmic Force as well as stakes-winners Fituese and Riddle Me That along with a further nine stakes-placed performers.
Deep Field stands at a fee of $55,000 this spring at Newgate Farm, who will also stand his first son to stud Cosmic Force at a fee of $16,500.
