More Than Ready Keeps On Keeping On

Mark Smith - Sunday July 12

Winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at two, Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at three, Just a Game Stakes and Jenny Wiley Stakes at four, the five-year-old More Than Ready (USA) mare Rushing Fall joined an exclusive club when defending her title in Saturday’s Coolmore Jenny Wiley Stakes on the turf at Keeneland.

Ridden by Javier Castellano for trainer Chad Brown, Rushing Fall set a new track record in defeating Jolie Olimpica (Brz) (Drosselmeyer) by three-quarters of a length with Juliet Foxtrot (GB) (Dansili) a hal-length back in third.

A $320,000 purchase by Mike Ryan from Taylor Made Sales consignment at the 2016 Saratoga Yearling Sale, Rushing Fall advances her record to 10 wins and 2 seconds from 13 starts with earnings of $2,278,000.

The daughter of More Than Ready (USA) is the best of five winners from as many to race out of the Forestry mare Autumnal who has also produced the Listed winner Milami (Street Sense) and the stakes-placed Autumn Song (Colonel John).

More Than Ready (USA) gave 19 consecutive seasons of yeoman service to Vinery Stud. In his swansong in 2019 covered 100 mares.

While his champion son Sebring may no longer be with us, Better Than Ready, Kiss and Make Up, Ready For Victory and Prized Icon will continue the legacy.
