Fairhill Farm’s Mike O’Donnell will have no regrets about passing in two year-old Hinchinbrook filly Sahra when she was offered at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale last year, the filly opening her account with a brilliant debut victory at Kembla on Thursday.
Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Sahra was ridden patiently by Sam Clipperton and when angled into the clear let down with a sizzling turn of foot to race away and win the 1000 metre maiden by more than three lengths.
Bred by Mike O’Donnell and retained to race in partnership after falling short of her $150,000 reserve, Sahra is a half-sister to Group III placed Margham, the dam of stakes-winner Mohave.
She is the seventh winner from eight foals to race from terrific producer Desert End (USA), whose weanling filly by Pride of Dubai will be offered by Fairhill Farm at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale on July 8 as Lot 184.
This lovely filly is one of a draft of 28 weanlings for this sale from Fairhill Farm, click to see the draft.
