Making
a winning debut at Clairwood in South Africa on Tuesday was two year-old Rock of
Gibraltar (IRE) filly Alboran Sea, a $105,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the
draft of Rosemont Stud.
Trained by Mike de Kock, Alboran Sea forged clear to win over 1000 metres by
three-quarters of a length.
Bred and offered for sale by Rosemont Stud, Alboran Sea is a sibling to
stakes-placed Trafalgar Legacy and Light Express being the fifth winner from
five to race from Lady's Light (USA).
An import from a big American Black Type family, Lady's Light has a weanling
colt by Rosemont Stud's Toorak Toff and was one of 51 mares covered by former
world champion sprinter Starspangledbanner last season in his first year at
Rosemont.
