Two Time Pass In Wins Stakes for Gerry Harvey

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 11

Gerry Harvey tried not once but twice to sell Sebring three year-old Indy Car and it may prove a blessing in disguise that he twice passed him in as the gelding charged home to score a stylish win in the $150,000 Listed ATC South Pacific Classic (1400m) Randwick on Saturday.

Indy Car scored an easy win in the Listed South Pacific Classic

Trained by Anthony Cummings, Indy Car had posted two wins from his previous four starts in lesser grade so was facing a step up in class for this assignment and rose to the challenge.

Ridden back in the field by Tom Marquand, Indy Car zoomed to the line to win running away by a length and a half.

“He’s a really nice horse and we though this was a nice race for him to progress forward in and I think he can continue up the ladder,” said Anthony Cummings, who is now looking towards the Listed Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) for Indy Car in two weeks time.

Indy Car is the 59th SW for SebringPassed in by Baramul Stud at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and at the Ready to Run Sale, Indy Car was retained by Gerry Harvey and has won three of five starts earning over $125,000 in prizemoney.

Indy Car is the first living foal for Zulia, a placed Hussonet (USA) mare, whose dam Lazulia is a full sister to Zabeel stakes-winner Zauberin. His fourth dam is Group I winner Skating, whose descendants include Group I winners Vancouver and Juste Momente.

Zulia is now in New Zealand for Gerry Harvey and  had a Redwood (GB) filly last year before being covered by Telperion.

Indy Car is the 59th stakes-winner for Widden Stud’s much missed sire Sebring.
