Derby Contender for So You Think

Quality So You Think colt Quick Thinker staked his claim for the Group I ATC Australian Derby next Saturday when scoring a stylish victory in the Group II ATC Tulloch Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, Quick Thinker was a Group III winner in Sydney back in the spring and was fifth to Shadow Hero and Castlelvecchio in the Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes before spelling.

Third to glamour fillies Funstar and Probabeel in the Group II ATC Phar Lap Stakes over 1500 metres two weeks ago, he relished the step out 2000 metres and was strong to the line in winning by a length and a quarter under James McDonald.



“The track is riding heavy and he’s a proven wet tracker that can get through it,” said McDonald.

Quick Thinker was a $100,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft for De Burgh Equine and was bred by Bowcock Bloodstock.

He is a half-brother to Group III placed The August from stakes-placed Al Maher mare Acouplamas, who comes from the family of Group I classic winners Blackfriars and Larrocha.

Acouplamas has no yearling for the sales this year and was covered last spring by Trapeze Artist.

Quick Thinker is one of eight stakes-winners this season for So You Think, who is having an outstanding run of success.
