Tramway Stakes analysis

Clinton Payne - Friday September 1

The Racenet Speedmaps and form analysts have combined to give punters a leg-up in the $200,000 Group II Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Racenet's Speedmaps spokesman Greg Polson said the runners have established racing patterns and he doubt's there will be too many fireworks in the first half of the race.

"Ecuador is the leader and with Mackintosh drawn out I'd expect him to just slide across and sit outside the speed," Polson said.

"Invincible Gem lands on the leaders back and she'll be kept company by Tom Melbourne.

"The Virginian is likely to trail the front four while the rest of them will race in the back half of the field.

"This could be an on-speed dominated race."

Corporate bookie Ladbrokes are offering $3.70 for the favourite Ecuador, $4.20 Invincible Gem, $4.80 Happy Clapper, $6 Tom Melbourne, $9.50 The Virginian, $14 McCreery, $15 Mackintosh with the other runners at $21 or better.

"There's value in the top two horses in the market," Racenet form analyst Cameron Happ said.

"The key to our assessments is the likelihood of an on speed favoured race. Because that's what we expect we've marked Happy Clapper quite hard which has opened up value elsewhere in the market.

"You can back either or both Ecuador and Invincible Gem while Tom Melbourne is also a bit of value.

"For us, this is a good betting race to also play the multis but we would be including Happy Clapper in the placings.

"Using the Ladbrokes Odds Boost you can lock in $4.20 for Ecuador or $5 for Invincible Gem. Something on each of them is our preferred staking option."
