Not A Single doubt colt Farnan cemented his place at the top of Golden Slipper markets with another impressive victory in the Gr2 Todman Stakes at Rosehill.
Having given them a thumping in the Gr2 Silver Slipper Stakes a fortnight ago, Farnan was sent to the post a very short odds-on favourite despite the fact Blue Diamond Stakes winner, Tagaloa was among the opposition but the rating proved correct.
Hugh Bowman sent the colt straight to the lead from the gates and was never under any threat, extending nicely over the final 300 metres to dominate the race.
Tagaloa did find the line strongly for second after getting well back and under riding a long way from home in what was his first look a rain affected track and he lost no real gloss in Slipper markets afterwards, sitting on the third line.
The win takes Farnan’s record to five starts for four wins and $457,000 in prizemoney.
He was a $550,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Vinery Stud draft for Phoenix T'Breds (II) Ltd/Aquis Farms Pty Ltd and was also bred by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, in whose colours he won today.
A three-quarter brother to stakes-winner Sandbar, Farnan is the third winner from Gr.3 winning Street Cry (IRE) mare Tallow, who was bought at the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale in 2017 for $250,000 by David Lucas when carrying Farnan.
She has not produced a foal since then, although was covered by The Autumn Sun last year and appears to be in foal.
Arrowfield Stud’s Not a Single Doubt was retired from stud duties earlier this year and in Farnan has a colt with obvious sire potential for the future.
