Impressive Debut Winner for Pride of Dubai

Tara Madgwick - Monday January 27

A brilliant dual Group I winner at two, Pride of Dubai is passing on his talent and trainability to his first crop of two year-olds with Sense of Honour scoring a dominant debut victory at Sandown on Monday.

Prepared by Mick Price and Mick Kent Jr, Sense of Honour was well supported for her first race day attempt and ran up to expectation when cruising clear to an easy three length win with Ben Melham in the saddle.

“She’s been a very sensible filly from day one and easy to train,” said stable representative Mick Nolan.

“Those qualities are a big bonus in a two year-old. They are only two once, so we’ll certainly be looking at the better races for her.”

Sense of Honour was the most expensive yearling from the first crop of Pride of DubaiA $340,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Phoenix Thoroughbreds from the Coolmore draft, Sense of Honour was the most expensive yearling from the first crop of Pride of Dubai and becomes his third winner joining stakes-winner Tanker and New Zealand trained Platinum Dubai.

He is also the sire of two more Black Type horses in Dubai Star and Bella Nipotina.

Foaled and raised at Coolmore, Sense of Honour is a half-sister to Group II placed Serious Liaison and is the third winner from three to race from stakes-placed Husson (Arg) mare Little Miss Smiley, who appears to be married to Pride of Dubai.

Little Miss Smiley has two colts to follow by Pride of Dubai and is back in foal to him again. Her current yearling colt will be offered by Coolmore at Inglis Easter 2020 as Lot 33.

Pride of Dubai has been enjoying strong results in New Zealand at the 2020 Karaka Book 1 with three yearlings sold in the first two sessions for $275,000, $210,000 and $150,000, click here to see who bought them.
