Juvenile Trial Watch - Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 26

A busy set of trials at Randwick on Tuesday morning featured four heats for juveniles highlighted by the return of Mark Newnham’s brilliant Choisir filly Every Rose, who won the Group III ATC Gimcrack Stakes at the start of spring and an impressive trial winner by first season sire Bull Point.

Every Rose looked sensational today, jumping smartly to travel in the lead for Josh Parr before cruising away from her rivals under a hold to win by five! Exciting stuff for her big team of all women owners, who are no doubt planning their Gold Coast trip in January after this.

Her dam Couredge has foaled at Tyreel Stud this spring producing a filly by Hellbent and she has a yearling filly by Hinchinbrook, so both of those girls will grow ever more valuable if Every Rose continues onwards and upwards in 2020.

A modest purchase for Hermitage Bloodstock, who have had great success with the likes of The Autumn Sun and Egg Tart, Brazen Beau filly Tight Ropes did everything right at her first public outing. She is the fifth foal from Prayer, a half-sister by Desert Prince (IRE) to Group II winner Hosannah, the dam of another Group II winner in Altar, this family also producing last Saturday’s smart juvenile Godolphin winner Destination. (read about him here).

From the first crop of Fastnet Rock’s talented son Bull Point, Encountabull has already been to the races finishing a close fourth in the $500,000 Inglis Banner on Cox Plate Day beaten just half a length. He looked thoroughly professional here and well capable of winning a race sooner rather than later.

Bred and sold by Kingstar Farm, Encountabull was the third most expensive first crop yearling for his sire and his dam Countess Delago produced another colt by Bull Point for Kingstar this spring so they’ll be cheering Encountabull on to success this season.

The sire of 2019 Golden Slipper winner Kiamichi, Sidestep looks to have another nice horse here in Easy Campese, who jumped from a wide gate and travelled deep all the way before surging to the line under his own steam to win well. Retained to race by his breeder, he is the third foal of Up and Over, a three time minor winner by Danehill’s Oratorio (IRE), from a family that produces a lot of winners, but not a lot of Black Type….. maybe this colt might up the ante for the family.
