Speedy I Am Invincible mare Miss Leonidas is getting better and better with the five year-old claiming her biggest win to date when taking out the Group II MRC Caulfield Sprint (1000m) on Saturday.
The Shaun Dwyer trained mare was sixth in this race last year, but has soared to new heights this preparation coming into today off a last start second in the Group I MVRC Moir Stakes to Nature Strip.
She was tenacious to the line to score a long neck win taking her overall record to five wins and six placings from 16 starts and prizemoney topping $670,000.
Not offered at auction, Miss Leonidas is the best of seven winners from Happy Play, a half-sister by Barathea (IRE) to Group I winner Newport. She was retired for stud duties this year and her last foal is a yearling colt by Unencumbered.
Miss Leonidas is the fifth stakes-winner this season for Yarraman Park’s champion sire I Am Invincible, who is Australia’s most expensive sire this year priced at $247,500.
