Newgate
young guns Deep Field and Dissident both posted smart maiden winners at Newcastle
on Tuesday and also featured at the Magic Millions 2YO's in Training Sale at
the Gold Coast with some outstanding results highlighted by Dissident producing
the second highest priced offering of the sale when his colt from Demanding Queen
sold for $320,000.
The Dissident colt from Demanding Queen colt offered by O'Gorman Racing and sold
to Barbara Moore and was a successful pinhook having been bought for just
$55,000 from the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
The colt was the fastest breeze up performer in the lead up to the sale,
sizzling in his 200 metre breeze at Warwick Farm clocking 10.18 seconds.
"He looks a very exciting prospect," Moore said. "He breezed
very well and very fast.
"He is a great type - a nice strong two-year-old type.
"At this stage he will be staying in Australia and we will see how he goes
before we decide what the future holds."
Randwick trainer John O'Shea produced a promising three year-old winner for
Dissident at Newcastle with Just Society leading all the way to win the 1500 metre
maiden by a length and a quarter at his third start.
A $100,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Blandford Lodge draft for China
Horse Club / John O'Shea Racing, Just Society is a half-brother to
stakes-placed Kingsman and is the third winner from Society Lady, a full sister
to dual Group I winner Final Destination.
Australia's leading second crop sire by winners and earnings, Deep Field sired
his 19th winner this season when three year-old filly Fituese made a winning
debut as a hot favourite in the 900 metre maiden.
The John Thompson trained filly led and dominated her rivals to win by more
than two lengths.
A $55,000 Magic Millions Perth purchase for Prime Thoroughbreds from the Western
Breeders Alliance draft, Fituese is the second winner from Cattalo, a Tiger
Hill (IRE) grand-daughter of Caulfield Cup winner Mannerism.
Deep Field also made his mark at the Magic Millions 2YO'sin Training Sale with
a colt from Khamsa selling for $210,000 to top the opening session on Monday
when snapped up by Nicholas
Moore/Francis Yip from the Kenmore Lodge draft.
