Arcadia Queen Sparkles at Rosehill Trials

Mark Smith - Tuesday October 1

Prominent owner Bob Peters was deflated when Enticing Star failed to flatter when favourite in Saturday's Group II Golden Pendant at Rosehill, however, his spirits would have been buoyed by his The Everest hopeful Arcadia Queen in a barrier trial at Rosehill this morning.

Never let off the bit by James McDonald, the once-beaten daughter of Pierro won the 1030m trial running the best final hundred 600 metres of the day in 0:34.30 without breaking a sweat.

"I’m very happy with her,” Waller reported via twitter.

"She’s come through her winning run without any winning problems. This morning was more just a piece of maintenance work. We’re still about 18 days out from The Everest so we are most likely going to give her an exhibition gallop a week, or thereabouts before she races to tidy up her preparation ahead of a very exciting race."

The best overall time for the distance was run by Gary Moore's lightly-raced 3yo Sizzling gelding Hostwin Sunlight.

Roused along by Glyn Schofield Hoswin Sunlight won by three and a quarter lengths in 1:02.24.

That will be welcome news for Symphony Lodge who will offer a half-brother by Dream Ahead (USA) at the upcoming Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs In Training Sale.

There were two trials for the two-year-olds.

The first went to the $85,000 Inglis Classic Choisir colt Malkovich.

Trained by Jean Dubois, Malkovich's win would also have been welcoming news for Woodpark Stud who will be offering a full-brother at the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale later this month.

The second heat for two-year-olds was won by the Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes-trained Pounce a $400,000 Magic Millions Yearling by More Than Ready (USA ) .

Group III ATC Up And Coming Stakes winner True Detective ( Shamus Award ) was given a good shake-up by James McDonald when he came from last to win heat 8.

There was a lot to like about the way second-placed Coterie trialled.

Fourth behind Fiesta and Estijaab in the $1 million Inglis Sprint in February, the Gerald Ryan-trained son of Your Song has not raced since failing on the Kensington track in April.
