Singleton's Strawberry Hill Stud already has a homebred Fastnet Rock three
year-old colt in Lewis from his famed Joie Denise family that is showing
classic potential this season and at Geelong on Monday a Fastnet Rock filly
from the same family broke her maiden with a tough staying performance.
Trained out of Lindsay Park, Raptures was favourite for the 1750 metre maiden
and scored a three-quarter length win at her fourth start.
Fourth, second and then a last start four in the Listed Morphettville Guineas,
Raptures is improving with every run.
She is bred to appreciate further being a half-sister to Group I placed Happy
Hannah and is the third winner from Zabeel mare Absolute Joy, who was fourth in
the Group I Queensland Oaks.
A daughter of Joie Denise, Absolute Joy is a sibling to Group I stars Tuesday
Joy and Sunday Joy (the dam of champion mare More Joyous), also Deedra, the dam
of Group I winner Fenway.
Absolute Joy has been to a variety of sires in the past few seasons and has a
two year-old filly by More Than Ready (USA), a yearling colt by Snitzel and was
covered last year by So You think.
