Dynamic Win for Exceed and Excel Colt

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 25
A highly competitive juvenile maiden at Kembla on Thursday produced a quinella for the Waterhouse Bott stable with a good colt narrowly defeating a good filly.

Escaped as a yearlingThere were high expectations for Exceed and Excel colt Escaped and Sebring filly You Rang with the pair staging a titanic battle over the final furlong with Escaped finally running down his stable mate in the last stride to win the 1000 metre dash by a whisker.

Last of six at his only previous start to Bivouac in the Listed ATC Lonhro Plate earlier in the year on a heavy track, Escaped showed his true talent with a gritty performance to nail the filly, who ran a super race on debut to only just miss.

He was greeted on his return to scale by Dynamic Syndications Dean Watt, who was surrounded by a big team of very happy owners.

A flashy chestnut with a baldy face, Escaped was a $180,000 Magic Millions purchase for Dynamic Syndications from the Kia Ora Stud draft and is second winner from Group II winning Bel Esprit mare Se Sauveur, a half-sister to Group I winner Escado.

Kia Ora Stud sold the full sister to Escaped for $525,000 at Inglis Easter this year to Jadeskye Racing/ Brad Widdup.

Escaped s the 12th two year-old winner this season for Darley's champion sire Exceed and Excel, who stands at a fee of $88,000.
