More Stakes Success for No Nay Never

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 25
A stakes-winner last season at two for Coolmore shuttler No Nay Never (USA), talented filly Servalan claimed another Black Type win overnight when taking out the Listed Yeomanstown Stud Stakes at Naas in Ireland.

No Nay NeverTrained by Jessica Harrington, Servalan didn't find a lot of clear running in the six furlong sprint with a big field of 17 runners, but she was able power through a gap late to snatch a short head win with Shane Foley in the saddle.

"Shane [Foley] came in and said he'd have been very unlucky if he hadn't won. I thought we were definitely beaten but she came through from nothing. Twice the gap closed on him. When they go that quick and she relaxes, she's got some devastating turn of foot," said Jessica Harrington.

"The trouble is that there's very few races for her over 6f, we've been looking absolutely everywhere for them, but Shane thinks she'll get 7f if she relaxes. We'll have to go across the water with her to find a race. She loves that ground."

Servalan was purchased by BBA Ireland for €50,000 at the Goffs Orby Sale and is the second winner from stakes-placed Oratorio mare Catch the Eye, who comes from the family of Group III winner Secret History.

She has the overall record of two wins and two seconds from seven starts and is one of 14 stakes-winners for Scat Daddy's brilliant Group I winning son No Nay Never, who has been powering ahead this year with three new two year-old stakes-winners in Arizona, Mystery Power and Shadn.

No Nay Never returns to Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $44,000 and will have his first runners next season. His yearlings here sold for up to $400,000 this year and you can click here to see who bought them.
