Shuttling
to Coolmore Australia this spring, No Nay Never (USA) was in the limelight
overnight in the UK at Newmarket where his brilliant three year-old Ten
Sovereigns won the Group I Darley July Cup, while his exciting two year-old Mystery
Power won the Group II Superlative Stakes.
Winner of the Group I Middle Park Stakes at the same track last season at two, the
Aidan O'Brien trained Ten Sovereigns was coming into this all aged sprint following
a first up fifth in the Group I Newmarket Two Thousand Guineas and a fourth at
Royal Ascot in the Group I Commonwealth Cup to Advertise.
Ten Sovereigns was able to turn the tables on that foe scoring a dominant two
and three-quarter length win for Ryan Moore over Advertise, taking his overall
record to four wins from six starts.
"Aidan had Ten
Sovereigns in tip-top shape," Moore said.
"He liked being back on faster ground and was just a bit rusty at Ascot."
The Group I Haydock Sprint Cup seems the likely next target with Paddy
Power listing him at 2-1 for the prestigious sprint.
"I'm delighted. It just took him a bit of time to come out at Newmarket before
he went to Ascot and ran a very good race, but mentally it hadn't clicked in
for him yet. Ryan said today he was lovely and relaxed. His work and times last
week were unbelievable, and his last piece of work he broke 11 seconds every
furlong for four furlongs," revealed Aidan O'Brien.
Ten Sovereigns was bought for 200,000 guineas at
the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Charlie Gordon-Watson Bloodstock and interestingly
for Australian breeders he is the best of three winners from stakes-placed
Seeking Solace, a daughter of champion Australian sire Exceed and Excel.
No Nay Never sired his 13th stakes-winner when undefeated colt
Mystery Power scored a length victory in the Group II Superlative Stakes over
7f at his second start.
The Richard Hannon trained colt did everything right and keeps improving.
"Mystery Power is a
super little horse, I was happy to get a tow off James Doyle and keep it simple,"
said winning rider Oisin Murphy.
"He's tough and very professional."
Bought for 250,000 guineas at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by SackvilleDonald,
Mystery Power is a half-brother to Group III placed Seaella from Haafhd mare
Gems, a half-sister to stakes-winners Frank Sonata and Peace Paradise.
No Nay Never will have his first Australian runners in the new season and
returns to Coolmore Australia at a fee of $44,000.
