Redoute's Choice's Galaxy Star has a Date with Justify

The six-year-old Redoute's Choice mare Galaxy Star reversed her last start defeat by Gatting in Saturday's Group III D'Orsogna-Strickland Stakes (2000m) but owner/breeder Bob Peters said it is likely to be her final start before she departs to the Hunter Valley for a date with Coolmore Stud's Triple Crown hero Justify (USA).

It was the fifth stakes win for the Group 1 WATC Railway Stakes heroine advancing her record to 13 wins, 5 seconds and 1 third from 19 starts with earnings of $1,546,000.

"I think she’s done a great job for us,” Peters told The West Australian.

"I made a decision when she came back in for these races that she had to win them and win them well. She’s only won two of the four.

"We can probably wait another week and make up our mind.

"We’ve always looked after her and given her plenty of time, and I think we should continue to do that.”

 

The daughter of Redoute's Choice comes from one of the Peters' most successful families.

Her dam, the very useful Galaxy Queen (Jeune) is a sister to the stakes-winning Star Encounter who placed in the Group 1 WA Derby and Group III WA Oaks.

Star Encounter is the dam of Group II Perth Cup winner and Group 1 Doomben Cup runner-up Star Exhibit (Statue Of Liberty) and Group II WA Guineas winner Perfect Jewel and Listed winner Royal Star who are both by Redoute's Choice.

Galaxy Star is the second and final foal of Galaxy Queen who died in January 2013.
