Greg Polson previews Muswellbrook Tuesday August 22

Greg Polson - Tuesday August 22

There is a feeling of deja vu analysing the Horsepower Benchmark 60 Handicap (1000m) and that leads to our best bet at Muswellbrook on Tuesday.

The Mark Cross-trained Miss Gigi will be chasing back to back wins over the Muswellbrook 1000m after winning a Class One on August 6.

Miss Gigi and the Jan Bowen-trained Trades Hall provided the quinella on August 6 and will clash again on Tuesday.

The race sets up almost identically.

Miss Gigi had barrier five and Trades Hall jumped from barrier seven and the barriers proved the decisive factor with Miss Gigi having the early speed to hold out Trades Hall with Miss Gigi kicking on the turn to win comfortably.

Interestingly, the barrier draw for Tuesday will see the pair jump from identical barriers.

Trades Hall has since won at Quirindi so only meets Miss Gigi 1kg better at the weights after being defeated by a clear margin.

All the form points to a similar result on Tuesday.

The Benjamin Smith-trained Floki could not have been more impressive on debut at Scone overcoming a wide run in transit to win his maiden by over eight-lengths.

Floki will be at short odds when he chases back to back wins in the Vancouver @ Coolmore Class One Handicap and only needs to run up to the maiden victory to get the money.

Floki's maiden win produced figures that would at least see him win a midweek race in town so the eyes will be closely on Floki from a future viewpoint.
