2YO Speed Machine Performer Joins Aquis Roster

Media Release - Sunday May 26
Unbeaten at his first two starts as a 2YO at Listed and Group III level, the former Chris Waller-trained Performer, a stunning chestnut son of Champion Sire Exceed And Excel will join the Aquis Stallion Roster for the 2019 breeding season.

Performer was a record breaking winner of the Breeders PlateThe first horse in the history of the time-honoured ATC Breeders' Plate (1000m) to break 57 seconds - a faster time than previous winners Snitzel, Choisir, Pierro, Vancouver and Capitalist.

Second up in the Gr.3 ATC Canonbury Stakes, the half-brother to Gr.1 ATC Galaxy Handicap winner Bel Sprinter, continued his outstanding juvenile form, giving the field a 3kg weight penalty to claim the prize and emulate previous winners Hinchinbrook, Sebring, Not A Single Doubt and Strategic.

A $450,000 yearling, one of the top priced colts by his sire sold in 2017 at Magic Millions, Performer started favourite in the Gr.2 ATC Todman Stakes at his third start and looked certain to dominate before dislodging jockey Hugh Bowman, putting an end to his chances.

Bred on the successful Danehill x Snippets cross that has produced Gr.1 stallions Snitzel, Hinchinbrook and Magnus, Performer is one of over 260 stakes horses for his sire Exceed And Excel, a stallion who is building a strong reputation as a sire of sires and is renowned for juvenile speed.

"A Listed and Group winner at his first two starts, Performer highlights many of the qualities we aim to source in a stallion prospect for Aquis, and we are really looking forward to standing this exciting son of Champion Sire Exceed And Excel at stud," stated Aquis CEO Shane McGrath.

We are honoured and thrilled to be standing the exciting speed machine on behalf of Aquis Farm and our partners.

Performer will stand at a fee of $8,800 (inc. GST) at our Canungra base in Queensland.
