Astute
trainer Alan Denham produced an impressive winner for Deep Field on Saturday
when Mocambo powered to an easy victory at Kembla Grange.
Beaten less than a length at his first outing when fifth at the same venue
earlier this month, Mocambo showed the benefit of race experience when settling
kindly in the field before surging to the line to win the 1400 metre maiden by
a length and a half.
A $100,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Brent Hudson from the Milburn Creek
draft, Mocambo is the first winner from Redoute's Choice mare Lady Bligh, a
half-sister to stakes-winner Run for Levi from the family of Group I winner
Spark of Life, who was also trained by Alan Denham.
Mocambo is the ninth winner for Newgate Farm's exciting young sire Deep Field.
