Prizemoney Boosts Put Odds In Your Favour at the Capricornia Yearling Sale This Weekend

Sponsored Content - Thursday April 11
The annual Capricornia Yearling Sale and Racing Carnival will be held in Rockhampton from this Friday 12th April to Sunday 14thApril with huge boosts to prizemoney.

In what has been proven to be a very positive move the promotion of the Sale has passed to the Rockhampton Jockey Club Inc under an initial three-year trial, with the expectation that they will assume control of the Sale after the trial period.

The benefits of this move were quickly evident with Racing Queensland substantially increasing their investment in this Carnival of Events.

  1. Prizemoney for the 2YO Sale Race has increased by $25,000 to $125,000 and the QTIS Bonus to the winner will be paid at twice the standard rate to the winner if QTIS eligible

  2. The combined 3&4YO Sale Race has seen a similar increase to prizemoney of $25,000 bringing that purse to $75,000 with the same offer of double QTIS Bonus to the eligible winner

  3. The prizemoney for support races on both days has also been given a boost with the Friday Meeting being elevated to a Northern Provincial Showcase status, minimum of $19,000 Prizemoney. There are also some boosted earnings for the HYGAIN Country Cup on Friday and the Mayor's Cup carries a $20,000 purse on the DLV Finance Capricornia Classic Race Day on Saturday.
If you consider that there are normally only around 70 horses paid up for the Race Series the odds of winning the Sale Races are very much in your favour, and well within the reach of the average owner considering the Sale average price last year was under $11,000.

Of course, the HYGAIN Capricornia Yearling Sale to be held at 11.00AM on Sunday 14th April is the feature of the Carnival.

The quality of entries improves each year and this year is certainly no exception. There are yearlings by freshman sires Rich Enuff and Spill The Beans, the first season sires Better Than Ready and Whittington along with Golden Archer, Sidereus, Top Echelon, Wicked Style and the local sire Carrara.

Sale graduates include River Lad and there have been three graduates sold overseas in recent times, Looks Like The Cat ($500K), Cash Dash($500K) and just last year Wicked Ways sold for $250,000 after winning over $100,000. He cost the astute buyer $10,000.

So, if you are looking for a genuine bargain for next season's 2YO season the Capricornia Yearling Sale is a great place to start.

The sale will be livestreamed with phone bids available via Magic Millions. Full details and an online catalogue are available at www.capricorniayearlingsale.com.au.
