The
Inglis Australian Easter Sale didn't take long to hit its straps with a new
title holder for the year's most expensive yearling at $2,8million.
Lot 49 is a three-quarterbrother to Gr II ATC Run To The Rose Stakes
winner and Group 1 Golden Rose third Menari out of a Gr II winning sister to
stakes-winners Au Chocolat and Isurava from the family of the champion Tie The
Knot.
Snitzel x Ichihara colt
Offered by Corumbene Stud, the colt was knocked to James Harron Bloodstock for
$2.8 million which made him easily the most expensive yearling this year and also
the most expensive yearling ever sold by Snitzel.
Only moments before the $2.8 million colt, the year's highest priced had been equalled
when a Deep Impact colt out of Grito (Redoute's Choice) offered by Arrowfield
Stud made $1.7 million to the bid of Spendthrift
Farm and Lloyd Kennewell.
The colt had been given a huge pedigree boost on
Saturday with his dam being a half-sister to the dam of Gr.1 Sires Produce Stakes
winner Microphone.
