Classic Dreaming at Inglis Easter

Tara Madgwick - Sunday March 31
The Golden Slipper is an iconic race that yearling buyers would all like to win, but as we head towards The Championships starting this weekend the Group I ATC Australian Derby and Oaks take centre stage and with a combined worth of $3million it's a target not to be ignored.

Victorian based vendors Three Bridges Thoroughbreds have a happy knack for producing classic horses with their huge paddocks and natural environment producing the sort of athleticism and toughness that brings classic success to three year-olds.

Tavistock colt from Provocative"Over the past four years we have raised two Derby winners in Rangipo (NZ Derby) and Leicester (SA Derby) as well as Oaks winner Sopressa (SA Australasian Oaks)," said Toby Liston.

"That's a great effort and reflects our commitment to raising strong and robust thoroughbreds that can achieve the goals they are bred for.

"Rangipo was raised here for his New Zealand based owner John Thompson, whose lifelong dream was to win the New Zealand Derby, so it's kind of funny he did that with an Australian bred horse!"

Three Bridges will offer four outstanding youngsters at Inglis Easter that all have the diversity of pedigree to suggest classic goals could be well within their scope and in particular Lot 200 looms as a standout being a colt by renowned classic sire Tavistock.

He is the first foal of Group I Queensland Oaks winner Provocative, whose dam Betwixt won the Group III Tasmania Derby and is bred on the prolific Tavistock x Zabeel cross that runs at 87% winners to runners. It has delivered five stakes-winners including Group I Australian Derby winner Tarzino and Hong Kong Derby winner and three time international G1 winner Werther.

"This colt could easily win a Derby in the future, he has more energy than any other horse I can remember and is freakishly athletic just like his mother," Toby Liston added.

Also from Three Bridges Thoroughbreds are as follows:

Lot 60 Colt Lonhro x Into the Mist, by Redoute's Choice

One of only two colts in the sale by champion sire and proven sire of sires Lonhro. First foal of Group II winner Into the Mist, a half-sister to stakes-winner Instinction from Group II winner De Lago Mist. Bred on the highly successful Lonhro x Redoute's Choice cross that has produced 86% winners to runners and seven stakes-winners headed by Group I winner Kementari.

Lot 116 Filly Dundeel x Midnight Oil, by Keeper

By Champion 3YO Dundeel, an outstanding young sire that has already had two Group I winners with his oldest progeny just three and is from the New Zealand Oaks winner Midnight Oil. A pedigree that has Oaks filly written all over it!

Lot 170 Filly So You Think x Papillon Rouge, by Fastnet Rock

By a proven Group I sire and is the second foal of a good metropolitan winning sister to stakes-winner Digitalism. Bred on similar High Chaparral (sire of So You Think) x Fastnet Rock cross to Group I winner Tivaci and Group II winner Omei Sword.

See the draft at Barn I Stables 23 – 26.
