New Stakes-Winner for Shamexpress

Media Release - Monday March 4
Exciting young sire ShamExpress (O'Reilly) continued his golden run at the weekend with new 3YO stakes winner Qiji Express lifting his first-crop stakes winners to runners ratio to an impressive 10,3%.

Qiji ExpressGuineas-bound Qiji Express, who was an unlucky runnerup in the Gr.2 James & Annie Sarten Memorial Stakes earlier in the Spring, scored a comfortable victory in the Fasttrack Mufhasa Stakes over 1300m on Derby day at Ellerslie for champion trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman.

The Gr.2 Wellington Guineas at Trentham on March 16th is the next target for Qiji Express who became ShamExpress' fourth first-crop stakes winner.

ShamExpress also sired another 3YO winner when Gunga Din was successful over 1600m at Goulburn in New South Wales on Saturday at just his third raceday start.

Last weekend the hot young sire produced his first Australian Group winner when 3YO filly Embrace Me was successful in the Gr.3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes at Moonee Valley in Melbourne.

The syndicate-owned ShamExpress stands at Windsor Park Stud where the popular stallion has had yearlings sell to $510,000.
