Nicks That Click – Like Father Like Son

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 29
A super successful nick between these two champion sires is showing every sign of continuing into the next generation.

Promising 2YO AthiriFeaturing in the Breednet Juvenile Trial Watch report from Rosehill on Tuesday was promising Lonhro filly Athiri, who is showing every sign of becoming a new stakes-winner for the highly successful nick betweek her sire Lonhro and daughters of Redoute's Choice.

This nick has the astonishing record of 90% winners to runners with 36 winners from 40 runners bred this way headed by seven stakes-winners with Group I ATC Randwick Guineas winner Kementari the best of them.

The stakes-winner to runner strike rate runs at an impressive 17.5%.

Turning 21 this year, Lonhro has left a fine successor to his crown in the shape of his champion son Pierro, who is also showing a real affinity for daughters of Redoute's Choice just like his famous father.

Furore is the sixth SW by Pierro from a daughter of Redoute's ChoiceThe Classic Mile at Sha Tin on Sunday was won in exciting style by talented Pierro four year-old Furore, who became the 14th stakes-winner for his sire and sixth bred from a daughter of Redoute's Choice.

Pierro has had 19 winners from 29 runners from daughters of Redoute's Choice for 65.5% winners to runners and those six stakes-winners including Group I winners Levendi and Arcadia Queen make for 20.6% stakes-winners to runners.

These are significant statistics that should deliver food for thought for yearling buyers and those planning matings for 2019.

At the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale there is one yearling bred on the Pierro x Redoute's Choice cross and she is Lot 745 offered by Coolmore.

A half-sister to stakes-placed Miss Strathallan, she is from Sundaze, a half-sister to Group I ATC Flight Stakes winner Oohood from the famed Easy Date family via the branch of leading sire Not a Single Doubt.
