$550,000 Pierro Filly Brings Joy to Queenslanders

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 10

Coolmore’s Golden Slipper winner Pierro is currently the leading sire in the country by earnings and stakes-winners, but has been somewhat flying under the radar at Magic Millions with a filly from Phoenix Park selling on Friday for $550,000.

$550,000 Pierro filly sold by Kenmore LodgeConsigned by Queensland based Kenmore Lodge, the filly was bred by Boom Racing Thoroughbreds and Banchory Thoroughbreds and is the first foal of metro winning Thorn Park mare Phoenix Park, a half-sister to Group II placed She’s a Thief from the family of Group I winner Angst.

She was snapped up by Duncan Ramage of DGR Thoroughbreds for leading Queensland trainer Chris Anderson and is the highest priced yearling so far for her sire Pierro at this sale and also for her vendor Kenmore Lodge.

“She’s been our standout seller so far and it’s great to see her staying in Queensland,” said Cameron Bond of Kenmore Lodge.

Kenmore Lodge also sold a Pierro colt from Noble Quality earlier in the day for $425,000 to John Sadler, so the champion son of Lonhro will no doubt be toasted by these Queensland breeders tonight.
