'He's Definitely a Golden Slipper Horse' Brazen Beau Colt Blows Them Away at Rosehill

Mark Smith - Saturday January 19

Brazen Beau is hot on the heels of Better Than Ready for leading first season sire and the dual Group 1 winning son of I Am Invincible drew a little bit closer on Saturday with the Chris Waller-trained Accession putting on a masterclass in an 1100 metres handicap at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

A last start winner of the $500,000 Inglis Nursery (RL) at Randwick on December 15, the Star Thoroughbred colour-bearer scored a resounding four and three-quarter lengths win over the Fastnet Rock blueblood Avon River and earned equal favouritism for the $2 million Inglis Millennium at Warwick Farm on February 9.

Waller did not try to hide his admiration for Accession (image Steve Hart) whose only loss came on debut when second behind Godolphin's Lonhro filly Athiri.

"He is a definite Golden Slipper horse," Waller told AAP.

"This was his third run and he is improving all the time.

"Two-year-olds tell you where they want to go and if they are up to a tough campaign.

"He goes to the Inglis Millennium next."

A $300,000 purchase by Star Thoroughbreds/ Waller Racing out of the Widden Stud draft at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Accession (pictured as a yearling ) runs for a partnership that includes his breeders Widden Stud and Danny McMillan of Jacob Park Thoroughbreds.

He is the second winner from as many foals to race out of the talented racemare Ready As Elle.

The 5-time winning daughter of More Than Ready (USA) and the stakes-placed Strategic mare Maxerelle is a half-sister to the Champion Sprinter in Singapore in 2015, Emperor Max (Holy Roman Emperor).

Ready As Elle has a yearling colt by Zoustar that has been entered by Widden Stud to the 2019 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

She foaled a Star Witness filly on November 12 and was bred back to Merchant Navy.
