Vinery Stud's exciting young sire Press Statement enjoyed
great success with his first yearlings offered at Magic Millions last week
adding further interest to the much anticipated debut of his two year-old full
brother at Rosehill on Saturday.
A good looking colt by Hinchinbrook, Antonio Padre featured in a recent
Breednet 'Juvenile Trial Watch' story after winning barrier trial at Rosehill on January 2 in
good style.
Prepared by champion trainer Chris Waller, Antonio Padre is an
$11 chance to replicate his full brother Press Statement by winning at his
first race start.
Waller also trained Press Statement and his Group I winning sibling Pressday.
"He's a really nice horse. He's got the best attitude and is very athletic,"
Waller told Racenet.
"I think he could be another good horse for the family.
"We'll see where he fits in on Saturday but I wouldn't hesitate to put him
aside for the late autumn and winter, which has been a good formula for his two
brothers.
"Their ability gets them up and going – that's the most important and obvious
thing.
"Between the three of them this horse is probably a better type than the other
two, and slightly more precocious."
Retained to race by his breeders, Antonio Padre is the 11th foal of
terrific producer Kaaptive Empress, who has left five winners.
His sire Hinchinbrook died prematurely last year at Yarraman Park with his
final foals now weanlings. His stock were in hot demand at Magic Millions where
21 yearlings averaged $274,524 last week and he has 19 entered for Inglis
Classic.
